1. Introduction
FilmeFarsi ("we", "our", "us") operates the website filmefarsi.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your data. It is written to meet the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK Data Protection Act 2018, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the CPRA.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of it, please discontinue using the Service.
2. Who is the data controller
For the purposes of GDPR, FilmeFarsi Editorial is the data controller for personal data collected through the Service. You can reach our privacy team at [email protected].
3. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account data — when you register, we collect your name, email address, a hashed password, and any profile details you choose to add.
- Comment and engagement data — any comments, reactions, or feedback you submit through the Service.
- Technical data — IP address, approximate location derived from IP, device type, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, and timestamps.
- Usage data — pages viewed, articles read, time on page, and interaction events used for aggregate editorial analytics.
- Advertising data — information collected by our advertising partners through cookies and similar technologies described in Section 6.
4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
We process personal data under the following lawful bases:
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for non-essential cookies, personalized advertising, and optional newsletter subscriptions. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — to operate your account and deliver the features you request.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — to secure the site against abuse, prevent fraud, measure aggregate editorial performance, and serve contextual (non-personalized) advertising.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — to comply with applicable tax, accounting, and law enforcement requirements.
5. How we use your information
- Operating the Service, including delivering articles, reviews, and user account features.
- Responding to comments, support messages, and editorial inquiries.
- Preventing abuse, spam, and fraud, and protecting the security of our systems and users.
- Measuring editorial performance in aggregate and improving the Service.
- Serving advertising through Google AdSense and any partner networks we identify in Section 6.
- Sending email only when you have opted in (for example, to a newsletter) or when we are legally required to notify you.
6. Google AdSense, DoubleClick, and third-party advertising
FilmeFarsi uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google is a third-party vendor that uses cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website and other websites on the Internet. In particular:
- Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — to serve ads to our users.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to FilmeFarsi and other sites on the Internet.
- Google and other third-party vendors may use non-personally identifiable information (such as cookie IDs, device identifiers, IP address, and rough location) to measure ad performance and detect invalid traffic.
Depending on consent signals, we may also work with additional advertising vendors and measurement partners identified in the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF). A current list is available on request at [email protected].
Opting out of personalized advertising:
- Manage Google's personalized ads settings at adssettings.google.com.
- EU residents can opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized ads at youronlinechoices.eu.
- US and Canadian readers can use optout.aboutads.info and youradchoices.ca.
- When our consent banner is displayed, you can withdraw or change your consent at any time by clicking the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer.
Google's own privacy and advertising policies are available at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
9. International data transfers
Some of our service providers, including Google, are located outside the European Economic Area. When we transfer personal data outside the EEA or UK, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions where available, or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
10. Data retention
We keep account data for as long as you maintain an active account, plus up to 24 months after account deletion for abuse prevention and legal defense. Comment content is retained alongside the article unless you request deletion. Aggregate analytics are retained for up to 26 months.
11. Your rights
If you are in the EU, EEA, UK, or California, you have the following rights over your personal data, available at no charge:
- Right to access the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten").
- Right to restrict or object to processing, including direct marketing and profiling.
- Right to data portability in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
- Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. EU residents can find their national data protection authority at edpb.europa.eu. UK residents can contact the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
12. Children's privacy
FilmeFarsi is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated on the Service, and — where legally required — through direct notice.
14. Contact
Questions, requests, or complaints about this Privacy Policy can be sent to [email protected], or via our contact page.
